Accessing data that NHS Shetland holds about you

You have a right, under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018 to access the personal data that NHS Shetland holds about you. Asking for access to this information is referred to as a Subject Access Request or SAR.

In certain circumstances, a person is permitted to exercise subject access rights on behalf of another individual.

The data that NHS Shetland holds about individuals is not limited to patient health records. For instance, an employee of NHS Shetland may submit a request for their HR record.
